Jeff Burton Passed Away At The Age Of 55

On August 15, Jeff Burton, host of The Rizzuto Show, passed away at the age of 55. Rizzuto, Tony Patrico, Moon Valjean and King Scott, the radio co-hosts, announced his death on 105.7’s official website. “We (they) have lost our dear friend and colleague, Jeff Burton,” they said. They added a statement while describing Burton’s personality,

“Everyone at 105.7 The Point loves and appreciates Jeff for many reasons, including his compassion, humor, and generosity, to name a few.”

They also said the radio presenter would be “honored” in the “coming months”. Rizzuto and company then asked fans to remember Burton’s “family”:

“Rizzuto Show and our entire crew will be celebrating Jeff in the coming months, but for now, please only remember Jeff’s family and the man who has done so much for the station and our community.”

The station’s DJ was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March 2021 and spoke about his illness on the show. Burton began chemotherapy in the following weeks while continuing to contribute to the program. Jeff Burton’s wife, Juli, said on July 2 that he was taken to Missouri Baptist for two blood transfusions and one platelet transfusion. Although it was possible to stabilize him, doctors assumed the disease had spread throughout his body. He returned home on Friday, July 8, after receiving hospital care. Jeff Burton died on Monday after a 17-month battle with cancer.

Much love to Jeff’s family, friends and radio family. I wish I knew him as well as all of you. What a great guy.

I’ve been lucky enough to work in the hallways from the Rizz Show for years, I love talking sports with Jeff when we meet.

Too young…

Jeff Burton just revealed his cancer diagnosis on the show.

On July 29, a month after leaving the set, Burton gave an update on his health. He declared:

“Being diagnosed with cancer has made me incredibly humbled and incredibly fortunate to know who’s been behind my back through all this and all of that, so it’s been a pretty amazing thing.” It’s amazing how many people you meet don’t care about you.”

Burton noted his latest appearance on the show:

“No matter what happens here in the future, I know Rizzuto and Tony and everyone talked about what the future may and may not hold, and whatever role I might take in the future, we’ll try to figure that out together and keep working as hard as we can.”
