On December 11, HGTV will be taping its annual Christmas special, starring actress Zooey Deschanel and TV personality Jonathan Scott at People’s House to show what the holiday season will be like. This year’s theme is ‘We the People’, and the White House will highlight what the nation stands for and its rich past.

This year’s Christmas at the White House features more than 83,600 lights, 25 wreaths and 77 Christmas trees, with more than 50,000 visitors expected during the holiday season. The famous White Gingerbread House will also be on display, with 20 sheets of sugar cookie dough, 30 sheets of gingerbread dough and 30 pounds of chocolate. Additionally, a replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia was built for 2022.

The Bang Canteen will display Christmas decorations featuring self-portraits of the class of 2021 teachers around the country. Likewise, in honor of deceased service members and their families, the East Wing will display Christmas trees with mirrored gold stars with their names on them.

Christmas at the White Castle will also include a menorah made from wood taken from the house during Truman-era renovations. The host, on the other hand, will be doing more than just sightseeing. The behind-the-scenes episode will feature Scott decorating the official White House Christmas tree while Zooey decorates the hallways and finalizes the Gingerbread House. According to Jane Latman, head of home and food content and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc., the show has been on the air for nearly two decades and pays tribute to the “effort and magic” that decorated the White White House.
