Taylor Swift is finally addressing the “Gaylor” rumors that have been spreading for years, in which fans have come up with wild theories about her hanging out with friends.
After Taylor was shamed in the media for her relationships with several famous guys, she decided not to date anyone for two and a half years. This was the period in which she was known for having a “girl squad,” which also sparked backlash.
During that time, rumors surfaced that Taylor was possibly dating her friends Karlie Kloss and Dianna Agron.
Fans even think that all of these songs could be about Karlie and that all of these songs are possible about Dianna.
Well, Taylor is apparently shutting down those rumors through a letter she wrote to the 1989 (Taylor version) prologue, included with the new album. She wrote about what influenced her while she was writing the album in 2012-2014.

I had to stop him because he was starting to hurt a lot.”
Taylor continued: “It became clear to me that there was no such thing as casual dating for me, or even having a friend to hang out with platonically. If they saw me with him, it was assumed that I was sleeping with him. And so I swore not to date boys, hang out with boys, flirt, or anything that could be used as a weapon against me by a culture that claimed to believe in women’s liberation but constantly treated me with the harsh moral codes of the It was Victorian.”
“Being the consummate optimist, I figured I could fix this if I simply changed my behavior. “I gave up on dating and decided to just focus on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships,” Taylor said. “If I just went out with my friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that, right? I would later learn that people could and would do it.”
Taylor later thanked fans who didn’t succumb to the wild theories and “knew that maybe a girl who surrounds herself with friends in adulthood is making up for the lack of them in childhood.”
