Frank Farian, founder of Milli Vanilli & Boney M., dies at 82

Frank Farian, the founder of Milli Vanilli and Boney M, has reportedly passed away. He was 81 years old at the time of his death.

The family of the German singer, songwriter and producer issued a statement on Tuesday, January 23 to PEOPLE. They confirmed that he died “peacefully” at his home in Miami, Florida.

Frank Farian’s death comes almost two years after he revealed it to a German newspaper image who had undergone heart valve replacement surgery. He also had a “pig heart valve” inserted into his chest. He said his own valve had shrunk with age. Farián noted that the surgery had saved his life.

“My heart valve is working great,” Farian told the newspaper in November 2023. “Mick Jagger also received the exact same heart valve. I have a good pig inside me! I’m very grateful for that”.

He also talked about the medication he was taking. “This is an active ingredient similar to Viagra and has a pleasant side effect. But to be honest, I’m not thinking about sex at all right now. Today I enjoy a good meal and I am happy to be alive.”

Despite being confident, The Evening Standard reported that Frank Farian’s condition had worsened after the procedure. He had noticeably lost a lot of weight. He was also dependent on a wheelchair.

The musician’s ex-partner, Ingrid “Milli” Segieth, said image she had visited him in Miami during the holidays. “Frank was physically very weak,” she confirmed. “But he was still full of energy. He kept standing in the recording studio all day, working on new music.”
