Sent to jail on blasphemy charges
In 2023, during a trip to Bali, she posted a video on social media in which she was reciting a Muslim prayer ending with the word Bismillah and eating pork (which is banned in Islam) after the prayer . The video went viral after which many people criticized him.
The Indonesian Ulema Council termed his act as blasphemy following which a police complaint was filed against him. On 19 September 2023, Ronny Syanatra, chairman of the panel of judges at the Palembang District Court on the island of Sumatra, sentenced Lina to 2 years in prison and also fined her IDR 250 million ($16,245 approximately). He was convicted under Article 45 paragraph (2) of Law No. 11 of 2008 and Law No. 19 of 2016 relating to information and electronic transactions. He was seen crying on several occasions during the hearing and said that he was sorry for his actions and had not expected such a harsh sentence.
