Aakash Mehta is a popular stand-up comedian in the Indian comedy circuit, known for stand-up videos, Long Distance Relationship (2017), Big Brother Stories (2017), and Doctors (2018). She also starred in the documentary Ab Mujhe Funny Banna Hai (2018). Apart from being a stand-up comedian, he is also a gamer, podcaster, and musician.

Although it was his brother Aditya Mehta who introduced Akash to stand-up comedy by gifting him a DVD series featuring 13 seasons of ‘Comedy Central Presents’, it was Akash who decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Was inspired to. He received a compliment from a ‘pretty girl’, whom he refers to as ‘just a friend’. In an interview he said,
I knew I occasionally made people laugh with my jokes, but when they complimented me I started doing more open mics. Then I continued because I really fell in love with the art.”
Inspired by the praise, he performed stand-up for the first time at ‘Kaleidoscope’, a collegiate fest at Sophia College. Around 2010 or 2011, Aakash signed up for his first open mic. In an interview, while talking about his debut open mic, he said,
I came out and walked into this room, this open mic place, and I was amazed! It was a room full of jovial life, people talking, drinking and laughing. Since then it has been a love story; I got comedy.
On August 31, 2015, he uploaded his first stand-up video, a comedy set to ‘New Relationships’, on his YouTube channel.
Subsequently, he uploaded various stand-up comedy videos on his YouTube channel, such as Break-up and Shopping with GF, Having Kids in India, Sex Education, etc. In 2018, Akash Mehta starred in ‘Ab Mujhe Funny Banna Hai’, a documentary directed by Sumedh Natu. The documentary depicts the struggles and difficulties of a stand-up comedian when he is off the stage.
In 2018, Akash Mehta, along with his friend, Naveen Noronha, started a podcast, Varta Lab, in which they invited their friends and acquaintances for interviews. She also recorded the Varta Lab podcast with her mother Dina Mehta, who is a businesswoman, a social activist and was the first woman chairperson of the Bombay Stock Exchange.

- Akash studied in Gujarati medium school till fourth grade. Surprisingly, he studied in this Gujarati-medium school in Mumbai, where Marathi language is dominant.
- Earlier, Akash aspired to become a musician and also took an online songwriting course from Berklee College of Music. In an interview he said,
There is a strong sense of emotion in music, not in comedy. I personally never felt the need to mix the two.
- Unlike other comedians who write scripts for their stand-up sets, Aakash never follows any pattern or script. In an interview he said,
I never have a script in my mind. “I haven’t written a single joke in the last four years.”
- Despite being a stand-up comedian who often performs in front of hundreds of people, Akash suffers from social anxiety. It may sound contradictory, but the comedian has faced this problem since he was in junior college. He felt threatened by his fellow classmates and responded to this feeling with rudeness and arrogance. As a result, he grew up with limited friends. Over time, Akash turned his fear into his defense mechanism and he often talks about it in his interviews.
