Just after announcing that she is expecting her second baby, Vanderpump Rules Star Lala Kent shares details about how she selected a sperm donor.
During her recent episode Give them Lala In the podcast, Kent stated that he got his donor through California Cryobank. She said the sperm bank worked closely with the “fertility specialist” she used for her intrauterine insemination (IUI). “Only 10 percent of women come to California Cryobank looking for a donor because they want to be mothers themselves,” she Kent said. “There are only 10 percent of people who, like me, say, ‘I only want one child and I need a donor.’”
Also speaking about the qualities she looked for in a donor, Lala Kent stated that looks were “probably the lowest on the totem pole” for her. “And I hate to say it, but I also didn’t need them to be extremely smart because I’m not.”
However, Kent revealed that he has not seen any adult photos of his donor. This is because he and other donors have the option of choosing not to be seen by recipients. “I said, ‘What’s it like?’ Because I feel like a baby, and we live in Los Angeles, so it’s cool, but the outside world is fun,” he noted. “Not everyone is as progressive as us, and I thought, ‘Okay, I’m going to bring this baby into the world because I really want her to be here.’ But I also want to eliminate as many questions as possible.’”
Lala Kent wanted her second child to have the ‘same aesthetic look’ as the family
Lala Kent went on to explain that she wanted her daughter to have the “same aesthetic look” as her, her mother, and her 2-year-old daughter Ocean. This is to help avoid difficult questions about her ancestry and background.
“The world is already difficult when you come from a totally normal family,” he said. “I don’t want to make it harder for you.”
Kent also said that when his son turns 18, California Cryobank could give him access to his sperm donor. This is only if you have any questions or want to meet the donor.
Lala Kent previously spoke about undergoing an IUI during her January 2024 interview with Cosmopolitan. “It’s a path I never thought I’d take,” she said. “I really saw myself in a simple relationship and creating a family, but now that the universe has other plans for me, I’m so grateful this was an option.”
