Umesh Kamat started his film career with the Marathi film ‘Kaidayacha Bola’ (2005), in which he played the role of ‘Abhijeet Vaidya’. Some of her notable films are ‘Time Please’ (2013), ‘A Playing Ghost’ (2015), ‘Yeh Re Yeh Re Paisa’ (2018), and ‘Asehi Ekda Vahe’ (2018). In 2020, Umesh played a cameo role in the film ‘Dhurala’.

Umesh entered the TV industry in 2002 with the show ‘Abhalmaya’. Later, he appeared in ‘Ashambava’ (2007), in which he played the role of ‘Adinath Shastri’, in ‘Shubham Karoti’ (2010), in which he played the role of. ‘Nishaad’ etc. TV serial ‘Eka Lagnachi Tisri Gosht’ (2012) in which he played the role of ‘Advocate’. ‘Om Choudhary’ is considered to be one of his best productions which received immense love from the audience.

Umesh started his career with the stage play ‘Sonchafa’ in 1988, followed by the play ‘Swami’ in 1989. His performance in the drama ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’ (2015) was highly appreciated. In 2018, Umesh starred as ‘Vineet’ in the drama ‘Dada Ek Good News Aahe’.

Controversy
In July 2021, Umesh Kamat said that he would take legal action against the media for falsely linking him to the Raj Kundra pornography case. In a statement released on social media, Kamat said,
I, Umesh Kamat, an actor by profession, have been unnecessarily dragged into the controversy related to businessman Shri Raj Kundra due to lack of due diligence by the news channels/media platforms. Mr Raj Kundra and his associate Mr Umesh Kamat, who incidentally shares my name, have been accused of allegedly creating and producing obscene material. While this news is being reported by various news channels/media platforms, my name and image is being maligned by major media platforms/portals because my photographs/images available in the public domain are representing me as the accused involved. It is being misused. Raj Kundra case. These actions on the part of news channels/media platforms are completely irresponsible and without any kind of basic verification of facts.”
