Sumeet was born on 27 July 1983 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan (India) and after completing his schooling, he studied at RD National College, Mumbai.

During his school days, Sumeet aspired to become a pilot or computer engineer. But, he was also fond of acting and writing. Later, choosing the second option, he left college and started working as an assistant editor in an editing studio in Mumbai.
Gradually, Sumeet started his acting career in 2003 with a TV series ‘Woh Huye Na Humare’. For the role of ‘Sameer’ in this series, he earned ₹4000 per day.

After this he worked in some more TV shows and then, entered into theater arts in which he acted in some web series like ‘permanent roommate’ in 2014 and ‘TVF Tripling’ in 2016, After this he also tried his luck in Bollywood and worked in more than 33 films.

34-year-old Sumeet hails from a middle-class Brahmin family in Jodhpur, Rajasthan (India). His father BM Vyas is a writer and mother Sudha Vyas is also a famous writer. She has a sister, Shruti Vyas, who is married to TV actor Namit Das. When he was just five years old, his family moved from Rajasthan to Mumbai.

In an interview given to ‘Times of India’, Ekta Kaul revealed that she was in love with Sumeet which was not love at first sight. She met Sumeet when she was hosting the show ‘Box Cricket League’ as she was also playing for the Delhi team at that time. A few days later, Sumeet invited her to watch one of his plays and she went to watch his performance on stage. Gradually their love for each other awakened and they started meeting often.

Sumeet aspired to become a writer and actor. For this, he debuted on the small screen with the series ‘Woh Hue Na Hamare’ aired on Doordarshan. in 2003.
