While sister wives Christine and Janelle Brown remain close after her split from Kody. Janelle takes issue with Christine’s narrative that she needed encouragement to leave her broken marriage.
Kody previously had four wives, including Christine, Janelle, Meri and Robyn. However, today he is only married to Robyn. Christine was the first to leave and, after 14 months, the other two followed. According to Christine, Janelle was too scared to separate from Kody. Then, she helped her out the door.
“From the day I asked him not to stay there anymore, I took my life back and got it back. And that day I became stronger…” Christine said during the special. Sister Wives Respond. “I’m not saying that Janelle has to follow the same path and she has [a] very different situation than mine, but she needs to know that everything is fine on the other side.”
Janelle could tell that Christine meant well. But she disputed the claim that she needed support when leaving.

“This narrative that Christine talks about all the time frustrates me,” he admitted. “I’m fine. I am separated from Kody.”
“Kody and I are not going to be together anymore, and she acts like I’m sitting here needing encouragement to leave, needing to be shown that it’s okay, and that’s bullshit, because I have left. I have three children who still live in Flagstaff,” Janelle continued. “So why wouldn’t I stay here? I like Flagstaff. “I have three children here.”
Janelle and Kody entered into a “spiritual” marriage in 1993, making her the second wife in the plural relationship. Christine married the following year. Janelle and Kody had six children during the nearly 30 years they were together.
“Just because I can’t move right now because all the assets are mixed up (I can’t take my share of our estate and go somewhere) and the fact that I’m not dating and I’m not trying to move states, it’s like I wouldn’t be sitting here waiting to be told that I have the power to leave. I left, I just didn’t move,” she added.
During the Sister Wives: One on One Notably, Janelle also shared that she has no intention of patching things up with Kody.
“I don’t foresee us ever reconciling, I don’t think so,” he told host Sukanya Krishnan. “It would be some kind of magical fairy tale where we all transform into some kind of different people, and that doesn’t happen in real life.”
