On Monday, the FBI raided the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence and, according to Trump supporter Scott Perry, confiscated his phone. The congressman claimed to Fox News that FBI officials asked him to give them his phone while he was on vacation with his family.
“This morning, while I was traveling with my family, three FBI agents contacted me and confiscated my cell phone. They didn’t bother to contact my attorney who would arrange for them to access my phone if that’s what they wanted.”
Perry said he was outraged by the move and criticized the Justice Department. Additionally, he said his phone carries legislative, political and personal information “not related to the government”:
“I am appalled, but not shocked, that the FBI, by order of the Department of Justice Merrick Garland, confiscated the phone of a sitting member of Congress. My phone contains information about my legislative and political activities as well as personal/private conversations with my wife, family, and friends. It’s not the government’s concern.”
Before the FBI took action, Representative Liz Cheney said Perry called the White House shortly after the Capitol riots on January 6 to ask for a pardon. However, Republicans have angrily objected to this statement.
In its May report on the January 6 attack on the Capitol, a House selection committee accused Scott Perry of “directly participating in an effort to corrupt the Department of Justice and install Jeffrey Clark as acting attorney general.”
In addition, the committee alleges that Perry had previously communicated with the White House about matters related to the House Committee’s ongoing Capitol Riot investigation. The notice also includes “allegations that Dominion’s voting equipment has been compromised.” The committee also alleges that Perry sent a text message to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows asking about the possibility of appointing Jeffrey Clark as attorney general by January 6.
All about Scott Perry
Scott Perry is an American politician representing Pennsylvania’s 10th congressional district. Born on May 27, 1962 in San Diego, he moved to Dillsburg at the age of 7. In 1980, he graduated from North High School in Dillsburg and later from the Cumberland-Perry Vocational Technical School. Perry earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University in 1991. In 2012, he earned a master’s degree in strategic planning from the United States Army War College. According to his official biography, Perry’s first job was picking fruit at Ashcombe Farm near Mechanicsburg when he was 13 years old.
In addition to working as draftsmen, mechanics, dockworkers, and licensed insurance agents, the native Californians pursued a number of other careers. In 1993, he and his mother founded their own mechanical contracting company, Hydrotech Mechanical Services Inc. Scott Perry began his military service in 1980 when he joined the Army. He received his basic training in Fort Dix, New Jersey and intensive training in technical drafting at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
He was also the valedictorian of the Pennsylvania Officer Candidate School and was awarded the rank of second lieutenant in the field artillery force. Perry qualified as a helicopter pilot in the Air Force and rose through a variety of positions, including operating officer of the 1st Squadron, 104th Cavalry Regiment (Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2002–2003), commander of the 2nd Battalion (Joint Support) and 104th Aviation Regiment in 2008.
Between 2009 and 2010, the 60-year-old also scored 2-104. general aviation support battalion in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a member of the Diablo Task Force and has participated in approximately 44 combat missions. Before becoming commander of the Fort Indiantown Gap National Training School, he was promoted to colonel in 2011. He was eventually selected to attend the United States Army War College, where he earned a master’s degree in strategic studies. In 2014, Scott Perry was promoted to brigadier general and began serving as assistant division commander of the 28th Infantry Division. Brigadier General Perry then resigned in 2019 after serving as assistant general in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Rising in politics
From 2013 to 2017, Perry served as Congressman for Pennsylvania’s 4th Congressional District as part of his political career. In 2018, he was also re-elected to the 10th congressional district in Pennsylvania.

During his tenure as representative of the state of Pennsylvania, Perry is said to have built a reputation for protecting the interests of Harrisburg taxpayers. Appointments were made to the Committees for Fund Distribution, Consumer Affairs, Labor Relations, Defense, Emergency Preparedness, and Rules. Scott Perry is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committees and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States House of Representatives. In addition, he was elected president of the Freedom Club of the House.
He even chairs the Carroll Town Planning Committee and the Dillsburg Area Health Protection Advisory Board. The representative is also a member of the City’s Spring Water Protection Committee and the Dillsburg Restoration Committee.
