Saravanan is an Indian actor, director and poet. He was born on 10 October 1966 (52 years; age as 2018) in a Tamil family in Salem. Saravanan has played lead roles in about 26 films from 1991 to 1998. Saravanan came into limelight with the 2007 film “Paruthiveeran”. He is considered to be a lookalike of actor Vijayakanth. After his stint in the acting industry, Saravanan became a director. Saravanan has also written many poems.
Family
Saravanan was the second among his five siblings. His father was an inspector in the police while his mother was a nurse. Saravanan obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Tamil Literature from the Government Arts College, Salem. He completed his acting course from Adyar Film Institute.
Saravanan married Surya Shanthi in 1996 and the couple have a son.

Saravanan started his career in the early 90s and has acted in several rural-themed Tamil films. Saravanan was a leading actor from 1991 to 1998. He played lead roles in about 26 films. She made her debut in the Tamil film industry in 1991 with “Vaidehi Vanthachu”. However, his acting career did not see any further growth until the late 90s.
Saravanan was the producer of the 1998-released “Santosham”. Since the film was not a blockbuster hit, Saravanan started organizing music shows abroad to make up for the losses. He entered the field of direction with the film “Thayumanavan”.
He made a comeback in 2001 with a supporting role in “Nandha”. However, it was “Paruthiveeran”, released in 2007, that brought him back into the limelight.
His performance in Paruthiveeran was not only appreciated by critics, but also paved the way for several film offers. He was offered a special role in the 2007 release “Veeramam Iramam”, based on the real life of Venkatesh Pannaiyar.
In 2019, she made her debut in the television industry by participating in Season 3 of the entertainment reality show “Bigg Boss” (Tamil).
