During his childhood days, Rohit was very interested in boxing and he used to watch boxing based movies and WWE matches with his brother. When he was ten years old, his father enrolled him in Baba Gangnath Boxing Academy, Munirka. Within a few months, Rohit lost interest in boxing and he started taking swimming training. Later, while studying in school, Rohit is bullied by his seniors. Therefore, he decided to take boxing training once again. During his school days, Rohit Tokas started his boxing career, and he has participated in various events like Youth Men’s National Boxing Championship (2010), Cuban Youth Olympics (2011), and 1st Dr BR Ambedkar All India Men Boxing Tournament (2012). Participated in boxing tournaments. In 2013, Rohit participated in the China Open Men’s Boxing Tournament in Guiyang, China. In 2015, Rohit decided to change his category from 60 kg to 64 kg for his further boxing tournaments. In 2019, Rohit participated in the Asian Amateur Boxing Championship 2019 in Thailand.
In 2019, Rohit participated in the 4th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
Rohit competed in the All India Inter Railway Championship in 2022 and he defeated Ishmit Singh, representing Central Railways, with a score of 5-0 unanimous decision. While talking about his victory over Ishmit in an interview, Rohit said,
This is an important year for me because we have both the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games and this win will definitely boost my morale and give me more confidence and motivate me to work harder.
In August 2022, Rohit participated in the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. Rohit won his quarterfinal match against Niue’s Matafa-Ikinofo Xavier during the men’s 63.5kg-67kg welterweight match, but he lost to Zambia’s Stephen Zimba by a 2-3 split decision in the Commonwealth Games semi-finals. 2022.
