Robert De Niro will not reprise his ‘Taxi Driver’ character for an Uber ad

Robert De Niro has teamed up with Uber for a new ad campaign, but he won’t be reprising his role as Travis Bickle.

The 80-year-old actor played the character in the 1976 hit. Taxi driverand rumors began to surface that Robert would bring back the character for the campaign.

However, according to a statement from his representative, this is not true.

Through The Hollywood ReporterA rumor that Robert would be reprising the role of a taxi driver for the advert began circulating over the weekend while filming in London.

Debunked reports indicated that he would utter his infamous line: “Are you talking to me?”

Robert’s representative, Stan Rosenfield, set the record straight and told him THR That would be saying that line, nor would he come back as Travis Binkle.

“De Niro’s Uber commercial has nothing to do with his Taxi Driver character,” the statement read.

Their Uber advertising campaign will air later this year and details about it are still unknown.

Robert earned a Best Actor nomination for his role in Taxi driver.
