‘Sister Wives’ Star Kody Brown Admits He’s ‘Not an Advocate’ of Polygamy

Kody Brown openly reflects on his experience of plural marriage.

He sister wives Star once had four wives… all at once. But now she warns against recommending this lifestyle to others. She suggests that limiting plural marriage to three wives might be a prudent choice.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Brown says, “I don’t advise people to get married and outgrow three wives. I am not a supporter of plural marriage, but I have had my own experience and have found failures in it. So I think you have to be extremely wise about who participates and how you approach it.”

Kody Brown also believes that knowing people well can also contribute to the success of plural marriage. “To be fair, if you know people very, very, very well, maybe it works. However, there are marriages in which people know each other a lot and still are not successful.”

Brown’s perspective on the polygamous lifestyle has certainly evolved. He admits: “I don’t have the answers. When I was 25, I had no experience and I had all the answers. Now I am 55 years old and I have all the experience and zero answers.”

As shown on the TLC series, Kody was previously married to Christine, Janelle, Meri, and Robyn Brown. However, in the last two years, he has transitioned to a monogamous lifestyle, not entirely by choice.

Christine began the family’s exit in November 2021. She was followed by Janelle, who announced her separation from Brown. Meri’s departure took a different turn and came after Kody admitted that she no longer considers them married. Currently, Brown is still married to Robyn.
