Controversy

In March 2023, the Assam government suspended him from the IAS post after he was involved in a case of financial irregularities and misuse of funds. Reportedly, when she was the executive co-director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), she opened five bank accounts without the approval of the Assam government. The notification regarding his suspension said,

It is also pointed out that she was the only signatory and FRBM rules were not followed with respect to opening of those 5 accounts. The inquiry report on the functioning of ODL under SCERT found very credible references to financial irregularities and misuse of funds.

His suspension was done under Rule 3(1) of the All India Service (Translation and Appeal) Rules, 1969. In April 2023, he and his son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh were accused of embezzlement of Rs. Rs 105 crore without showing work order. After investigation, it was alleged that he opened a fake organization for making smart classes with a budget of Rs 20,000. 13 crores. Other education officers are also involved in the scam of Rs. 100 crores include NL Sonowal, Jaychandra Lashkar, Rameezuddin Ahmed and Class IV employee Rubul Ali. In May 2023, he and his son-in-law Ajit Pal Singh were arrested from Rajasthan by the CM’s Vigilance Cell, Assam.
