Ritu Karidhal is an ISRO scientist. She was the Deputy Mission Director of India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, known as Mangalyaan-1. She was in the news when she was appointed as the director of Chandrayaan-2, which was successfully launched and also became the world’s first space mission led by a woman. He is also known for leading India’s third moon mission Chandrayaan-3; Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14, 2023 at 2.35 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Ritu Karidhal was born on 13 April in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She received her primary education from St. Anjani Public School and Navyug Kanya Vidyalaya, Lucknow. She studied B.Sc. from Mahila Vidyalaya PG College, Lucknow. He did M.Sc. in Physics from Lucknow University. Did.

While she was pursuing her doctorate, she was also a part-time lecturer at Lucknow University. He published a paper in the first six months of his PhD. When 6 months of his PhD were completed, his GATE results were declared, and he got selected into the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Ritu was in a dilemma; Since she wanted to do research, and didn’t know if she should leave her PhD and go to Bangalore. He consulted his physics professor Manisha Gupta about this and she advised him to go; Because it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. When Ritu was studying M.Tech, she used to look for job opportunities in ISRO in newspapers. Once, he found a job opportunity and applied for it. When he completed his M.Tech, he got a call from ISRO and he was selected. His first posting was at ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Center (URSC). In the initial days, he was given difficult assignments. Once in an interview, he said that even though senior scientists were available, he was still given tasks with strict deadlines. She said she liked it; Because it gave her confidence that she could handle difficult projects.

Years passed and one day suddenly his team was given the Magellan-1 project. He said-

We had just finished a project and suddenly, without any warning, we were thrown into the next project, but, it was the most exciting project I had ever worked on.

Once in an interview he was asked about his role in Mangalyaan-1. He said-

My job was to conceptualize and ensure the implementation of the craft’s forward autonomy system, which is the brain of the satellite, a software system coded well enough to work on its own, determining what to do and when. To separate, anything that needs to be disrupted. If there is a malfunction, the system must be designed well enough to recover and recover on its own in outer space.

Following her success as Deputy Mission Director of Mangalyaan-1, Ritu was appointed as the Mission Director of Chandrayaan-2. Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched on 22 July 2019 at 02:43 PM (IST). He received congratulations and appreciation from all over the world. Chandrayaan-2 was the first space mission to be led by women as mission and project directors and was a major achievement for India.
