Randhir Raj Kapoor was born on Saturday, 15 February 1947 (age 76 years; as of 2023) in Chembur, Bombay, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Mumbai). His zodiac sign is Aquarius. Before India’s partition, his family moved to Mumbai from their Kapoor Haveli in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) to pursue performing professions. Randhir is a High school graduate and pursued his schooling at Colonel Brown Cambridge School, Dehradun. Randhir started his acting career in the 1970s.

Parents & Siblings
Randhir’s father, Raj Kapoor, was an Indian actor and filmmaker who died in 1988, and his mother, Krishna Kapoor, was a homemaker who died in 2018. He has two sisters, Reema Jain, and Ritu Nanda (deceased), and two brothers, Rajiv Kapoor an Indian actor and filmmaker who died on 9 February 2021 of a heart attack, and Rishi Kapoor , an Indian actor and filmmaker who died on 30 April 2020 after suffering from leukemia.
Wife & Children
On 6 November 1971, Randhir got married to his longtime partner actress Babita Kapoor in a majestic ceremony. They have two daughters, Kareena Kapoor, and Karisma Kapoor, both are actors. In the 1980s, Randhir and his wife, Babita, began to experience some hurdles in their married life, which eventually caused them to live apart for a while. However, the couple reunited in 2007.
Other RelativesRandhir Kapoor is one of the grandsons of actor and producer Prithviraj Kapoor and grandnephew of actor Trilok Kapoor. Randhir Kapoor’s nephews are actors Ranbir Kapoor, Aadar Jain, and Armaan Jain, and businessman Nikhil Nanda.

Actor
Randhir first appeared in the film ‘Shree 420’ (1955) and ‘Do Ustad’ (1959) as a child artist. Randhir Kapoor made his acting and directorial debut with the film ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal'(1971), which starred his wife, father, and grandfather. The film performed moderately at the box office.
In 1972, Randhir worked in three back-to-back films, namely, ‘Jeet,’ ‘Rampur Ka Lakshman,’ and ‘Jawani Diwani.’
His film as a main hero ‘Rickshawala’ (1973) was a remake of MGR’s hit film ‘Rickshawkaran’ (1971) opposite the new heroine Neetu Singh; the film was a flop. After ‘Khazana’ in 1987, he did not appear in films for a decade.
Kapoor returned to acting after a gap of 10 years with the 1997 film ‘Ladies Only.’
Producer
Randhir Kapoor started producing the film ‘Henna’ (1991) with his father Raj Kapoor in 1988; Randhir took over the film as a director after his father died. The film, starring actor Rishi Kapoor and Pakistani actress Zeba Bakhtiar in lead roles, was a great success. In 1996, he produced ‘Prem Granth,’ starring Madhuri Dixit and Rishi Kapoor, and in 1999, he produced ‘Aa Ab Laut Chale,’ starring Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Khanna.
Director
He became an assistant director with the film ‘Jhuk Gya Aasman (1968), starring Rajendra Kumar. Later, he directed ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’ in 1971, which was also his debut film as an actor followed by ‘Dharam Karam’ in 1975 and ‘Henna’ in 1991.

- Randhir Kapoor didn’t lead a privileged life. He used to travel by bus and train during his school days.
- His directorial film ‘Henna'(1991) resulted in a trip to Pakistan, where he got a kind gesture from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was apparently a fan of his father Raj Kapoor, and his uncles Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.
