Elon Musk has decided that the terms “cis” and “cisgender” are “considered slurs” on Twitter.
If you’re unfamiliar with the terms, the Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “cisgender” as a description of “someone whose inner sense of gender corresponds to the sex the person identified with at birth.”
However, Elon warned that using the word on his social media platform could carry great risk. Her tweet on the subject also drew a response from Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

On Wednesday (June 21), Elon responded to a tweet in which someone claimed to be called “cis” despite saying he “rejected the word.”
“Repeated and targeted harassment against any account will result in harassing accounts receiving, at a minimum, temporary suspensions,” he wrote. “The words ‘cis’ or ‘cisgender’ are considered slurs on this platform.”
When users took to Twitter to complain about the terms being described as “smears”, JK expressed his agreement with Elon’s decision.
“’Cis’ is ideological language, which means belief in the unfalsifiable concept of gender identity. You have a perfect right to believe in undemonstrable essences that may or may not match the sexed body, but the rest of us have a right to disagree and refuse to adopt your lingo,” he tweeted, prompting the Twitter owner to reply with ” exactly”. .”
If you didn’t know, JK has made controversial comments about the trans community, which prompted her to issue a response to the resulting backlash earlier this year.
