Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian badminton player. She is the only Indian woman to win two individual Olympic medals. In March 2015, Sindhu was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, for her contribution to sports. In 2018, she was ranked seventh on Forbes’ list of “Highest-Paid Female Athletes” and first in Forbes India’s inaugural list of 22 Young Achievers.

PV Sindhu was born on 5 July 1995 (age 27 years; as in 2022) in Hyderabad. His zodiac sign is Cancer.
He attended Auxilium High School. She was good at studies in her childhood and wanted to become a doctor. Sindhu started playing badminton at the age of just 8 and a half years. Initially, she played it for fun but soon realized that she wanted to make a career out of it. She enrolled at the Indian Railway Institute in Secunderabad to learn the basics of the game from Mehboob Ali and later joined Pullela Gopichand’s Badminton Academy to hone her skills. Sindhu has been coached by Pullela Gopichand till date (in 2019). It is noteworthy that he is also the chief coach of the Indian badminton team. After this, she joined St. Ann’s College for Women to pursue her MBA.

PV Sindhu is the daughter of PV Ramanna and P. Vijaya. Both of his parents are former volleyball players. His father PV Ramanna was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution towards sports. He has an elder sister, Divyaram Pusarla, who was a national level handball player and later became a doctor.

Sindhu made her international debut as a badminton player at the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships in Colombo and won a bronze medal. Subsequently, she played at the 2010 Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge, where she won the silver medal in the singles category. In 2011, she won a gold medal in the singles event at the Douglas Commonwealth Youth Games. This was a turning point in his life. However, her best performance came in 2012, when she defeated 2012 London Olympics gold medalist Li Xuerui of China at the Li Ning China Masters Super Series competition. In 2013, Sindhu became the first Indian women’s singles player to win a medal at the Badminton World Championships. Subsequently, she defeated Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals of the 2016 Summer Olympics and advanced to the final. With this she became the first Indian shuttler to reach the final of the 2016 Summer Olympics. She also became the youngest Indian to achieve a podium finish in an individual event at the Olympics. However, Sidhu was defeated by Carolina Marin in the 83-minute final match, leaving her with a silver medal at the Summer Olympics. In 2018, she captured the World Tour title by defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the 2018 World Tour Finals.
On 1 August 2021, she became the first Indian woman to win two individual Olympic medals when she defeated China’s He Bing Xiao 21-13, 21-15 to win a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In July 2022, he won the Singapore Open title; She defeated Zi Yi Wang of China.
