30 September 2022, Munich The rapidly expanding Gorgeous Smiling Hotels, with its corporate office in Munich, will officially have a new management team as of October 1. Heiko Grote, the multi-brand operator’s creator, will continue to serve as GSH Holding’s CEO and general managing director. The new combined leadership of CFO Marco El Manchi and COO Edwin Jebbink will assume operational responsibility as managing director of the umbrella business Gorgeous Smiling Hotels GmbH as well as Rilano Group GmbH and GS Star GmbH.
Along with the recently established GSH Academy, they hope to further promote expansion in the DACH region in the new constellation. The new management team is also increasingly reaching out to the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland thanks to its extensive international expertise.
Together with Heiko Grote, they have been working diligently on the future direction of Gorgeous Smiling Hotels recently. Edwin Jebbink, who has been in charge of operations as COO since the beginning of the year, has also taken on responsibility for revenue, sales, and e-commerce. Marco El Manchi is the lead in finance, purchasing, legal development, and IT. Both managers bring years of experience and knowledge of other countries to their new roles.
Since January 2020, Marco El Manchi has served as the Head of Finance at Gorgeous Smiling Hotels. He studied law and business administration in Barcelona and Vienna. He previously supported projects mostly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions with a focus on the consumer and construction for a strategy consulting firm. He states that the goal is clear on the direction of travel for the upcoming several years. Whether they are already built, newly constructed, leased, or bought, we plan to add 10 new hotels per year.
With the new constellation at the top, we now have the resources and expertise to accomplish this, as well as a strong sense of motivation. The nicest part is that we work well together. Working with Heiko and Edwin is a lot of fun. The chemistry must be appropriate.
Edwin Jebbink has a master’s degree in business, management, hospitality, and marketing from Cornell and The Hague. He began working for GSH in May 2021 as an outside consultant and has been the COO since September 2021. Jebbink is regarded as a foresighted strategist and motivator who has gotten familiar with all the sensitive spots of the hotel industry throughout the course of his managerial career.
He has specific plans for his new role and the company’s future, saying that quality would come first in both the growth and further development of the current assets.
