Prashant Damle was born on Wednesday, 5 April 1961 (age 62 years; as of 2023) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Aries. He went to Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya in Mumbai. Later, he studied at the University of Mumbai. He used to participate in stage performances held at his school and college. While studying at his college, he was offered to act in a Marathi play titled ‘Tur Tur.’ Acting in that play turned out to be a breakthrough role for him, and he began to receive acting offers to work in the commercial Marathi theatre.

Theatre

He began acting in theatre when he was 17 years old. After his debut in the Marathi theatre industry with the theatre play ‘Tur Tur,’ he played the role of a college student in a comedy play titled ‘Moruchi Mavshi.’ During his struggling days, he was offered a lead role by Sudhir Bhat, founder of Suyog Productions, in his comedy-drama play ‘Bramhachari.’ He has worked in many notable Marathi theatre plays including ‘Gela Madhav Kunikade’ (1993), ‘Lekure Udand Jhali’ (1995), ‘Priyatama’ (1996), ‘Eka Lagnachi Pudhchi Goshta’ (1999), ‘Amhi Doghe Raja Rani’ (2003), and ‘Olakh Na Palakh’ (2008).

In 1986, he debuted in the Marathi film industry with the Marathi film ‘Pudhcha Paaul’ in which he played the role of Ramu.

In 1989, he played the role of Abhay Mangalkar in the film ‘Atmavishwas.’ He appeared as Ajay Sarpotdar in the 1991 comedy-drama film ‘Aayatya Gharat Gharoba.’ In 1993, he was cast in the Marathi comedy-drama film ‘Savat Mazi Ladki’ in which played the role of an assistant anaesthetist with a great sense of humour named Dr Dinesh Kirtikar. He appeared as Shekhar Pradhan in the popular Marathi film ‘Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai 2’ released in 2015. He has also appeared in more than 40 Marathi feature films.

  • Prashant Damle is considered one of the legendary actors in the Marathi theatre industry.
  • He considers himself a foodie and likes to eat spicy food such as Pav Bhaji and Vada pav.
  • In 2012, he opened an institute named ‘Theatre School of Performing Arts’ in Pune.
  • He owns a foundation named ‘Prashanth Fan Foundation’ for social welfare works. He once donated Rs 1 lakh to the Maharashtra government for their water program.
