Priyadarshini Patil aka Priya Desai was born on Tuesday, 14 October 1980 (age 42 years; at the time of death) in Saptapur, Dharwad, Karnataka, India. Her zodiac sign was Libra. After passing her graduation in engineering, she moved to Verlie Street, Sydney, Australia with her husband where she started working in an IT firm.

Conflict with Australian Authorities
At the age of ten, her son, Amartya, was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation and ulcers in the large intestine following which he underwent treatment at the Westmead Children’s Public Hospital in Sydney. which included taking injections every two months. When his condition did not improve after a few years, she filed a medical negligence complaint in 2019, in the hope of admitting him to a private hospital; however, the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) filed a counter case numbered 2021/00304854-001 against her and her husband, accusing them of not taking proper care of children, which led to the health problem.
They later took up custody of both children following which she launched an online petition to take back her children’s custody. She also approached the Indian Consulate in Sydney on 28 July 2023; however, she was unable to take back her children’s custody.
Death
In August 2023, she came to India from Australia and went to Belagavi city in Karnataka. She sent her bags by courier to her parent’s house in Dharwad. On 20 August 2023, her body was found in the Naviluteertha dam in the backwaters of the Malaprabha River near Saundatti in Belagavi. Her relatives informed the police that they had received a note in which she wrote that she would end her life in Gokak Falls. She accused Australian authorities and neighbours in Sydney of harassing her, which forced her to take the extreme step of committing suicide.
