The short film places Shore in the role of the fitness icon of the ’80s and ’90s. David is ready to give up on success and happiness, but Simmons intervenes and convinces David to love himself.

When Richard Simmons found out about the project. his representative told him Eastern Time, “Richard and I do not support this project. It’s not authorized. I spoke to Pauly last year and I told him [Richard] “He is not ready to tell his story.”

Richard Simmons also posted on Facebook saying that he never allowed Pauly Shore to film a biopic.

“So don’t believe everything you read,” he wrote. “I no longer have a manager and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be at peace. Thank you for all your love and support.”

Reporters questioned Shore about Simmon’s comments while the actor was at Salt Lake City International Airport on Jan. 18, the day before. The court jester would premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Shore responded by saying that Simmons might be surprised at how well the story turned out.

“Every day is a different day. “You never know what he’s going to say the next day,” she said. “I love Ricardo. I’m feeding into the whole people online thing, you know what I’m saying? Since everyone said I looked like him, I wanted to play him. Makes sense?”

Shore assured everyone that the film is not coming “from a vengeful place.”

“I hope that once he sees the short, and sees what we want to do with it, he will change his tune,” he continued. “I love it; I love what it represents, that’s why we want to do it. It’s a great character and it would be a good opportunity for me to get back out there too. People miss me and they miss him.”

The court jester is intended to be the prelude to a full-length biographical film, which is currently in production. Shore announced the project earlier this week. The short is now available to watch on YouTube.
