Alluding to her infamous scandal, Monica Lewinsky takes over Taylor Swift’s “asylum” trend with a hilarious White House meme.
Since the release of the Swift track Who’s afraid of my little one? Many Swifties have been posting photos of places or things that have shaped who they are today.
The lyrics used for these social media posts are: “You wouldn’t last an hour in the nursing home where I was raised.”
Using the same lyric clip, Monica Lewinsky took to her X account (formerly Twitter) and posted it with a photo of the White House. This refers to her days as a White House intern and when she began her infamous affair with then-President Bill Clinton.
After the affair was discovered, Clinton was accused of lying to the American public about his relationships with Lewinksy. She was quickly vilified and victimized by the public for her role in the affair.
Over the years, Monica Lewinsky has spoken out about the bullying she experienced. She has also spoken publicly about her side of the affair and how she has been a victim of cancel culture before cancel culture existed.
Nearly 200,000 X users have liked the post and it has been viewed 17 million times. Many praised her for being able to find humor in the situation.
“Your ability to have a sense of humor about what was done to you is quite inspiring,” one follower wrote.
Another then stated: “Ok… I think those of us who are of a certain age can agree that this wins that particular message/meme. Well played, Lewinksy. Well played.
Monica Lewinsky uses the harassment she experienced for good
After more than 25 years of being vilified for her role in the Bill Clinton affair, Monica Lewinsky is speaking out about her traumatizing experience.
while talking to USA TODAY Last fall, Lewinsky admitted that the scandal will not “clear up like a blur.”
“It’s something you have to find ways to live with,” Monica Lewinsky explained. However, instead of letting the scandal destroy her life, she has become the face of anti-bullying advocacy.
In her 2023 anti-bullying campaign, Lewinsky focused on “self-bullying.”
“This year is introspective,” she said of self-bullying, which is someone’s inner voice telling you negative things. It is also repeating bad things that others have said to them.
“It’s wanting people to recognize that the toughest bully we know is ourselves,” Lewinksy continued. “The idea of negative self-talk and our negative voice is not totally new to everyone, but rephrasing it this way… Be a wake-up call for some people or a gentle reminder for others that this is something we should do. keep in mind”.
Lewinksy noted that the campaign is part of the “entire transformative process” for her. “Hearing myself say out loud what I tell myself, the stalking silence in my head, was devastating. I cried at different times. “It surprised me how cruel I could be to myself.”
Monica went on to add that she wouldn’t be here without her family. “I was very, very lucky in that sense.”
