Career
Pfaff has known Slipknot bandmate Sid Wilson all his life, and Wilson introduced him to Shawn Crahan in 2007. They quickly became friends and formed the band Dirty Little Rabbits, in which he played piano. Prior to releasing their first and only self-titled album in 2010, the band released two extended plays, Breeding (2007) and Simon (2009), before disbanding in 2012.
After veteran Slipknot drummer Chris Fehn was fired in March 2019 after filing a lawsuit against the band, Pfaff was immediately approached by Crahan while working his day job about possibly replacing Fehn, which he accepted. He took over as drummer shortly before the band began filming the music video for “Unsainted,” the first single from their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, which was released on August 9, 2019.
Pfaff was quickly dubbed “The Tortilla Man” by fans due to the appearance of his tortilla-like mask, and he was mostly known by that term until the band finally revealed his identity in March 2022. He was first brought on as a touring member, but when when the band went into the studio to record their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, he became an official permanent member. Pfaff was injured while playing on the band’s 2022 European tour.
