Ryan Tham was born on Sunday, 18 April 1982 (age 39 years; as in 2021) in Mumbai. His zodiac sign is Aries. He attended GD Somani Memorial School and HR College in Mumbai to complete his schooling. Subsequently, he moved to Griffith University, Australia to pursue graduate studies in Business and Restaurant Management (2004). Growing up in a family of top-tier restaurant owners, Ryan wanted to run his own restaurant since he was a teenager. When Ryan returned from Australia, his grandfather’s 45-year-old restaurant, the Mandarin, was closed (2003), and his father, Henry, was setting up a fine dining resto-bar in its place. The restaurant was launched in 2005 and named ‘Henry Tham’. Ryan suggested his father add a bar to ‘Henry Thom’, an idea imported from Australia.

Ryan Tham’s father, Henry Tham, is a restaurateur. His mother’s name is Ashita Tham (Bengali). He has a younger brother, Keenan Tham, who is also a restaurateur. His brother, Keenan, is married to Neha Tham who owns Paws Fashion, a women’s clothing store in Mumbai.
His grandfather, Mon Yiu Tham, was a restaurateur who established two of the oldest Chinese restaurants (Mandarin and Kamling) in Mumbai. His maternal grandfather Laxmichand Gupta was a businessman. His maternal grandmother’s name is Reba Gupta.
Wife
Ryan married Indian actress Minissha Lamba in a private ceremony on 6 July 2015. The couple got divorced in 2020.

Famous Indian film actor Kabir Bedi is his uncle. The late Indian classical dancer Protima Bedi is her aunt. Pooja Bedi (actress and talk show host) is Ryan’s cousin.

livelihood
Ryan started his career in 2004 by assisting his father in his restaurant ‘Henry Thom’. In 2010, Ryan and his brother closed Henry Tham and launched ‘Trilogy’, a nightclub at Hotel Sea Princess, Juhu. The restaurant closed in 2017. Talking about the trilogy in an interview, Ryan said,
Most concerts will hold their pre- and after-parties there. Nightclubs usually last two to three years. Our goal was to survive three new years; We got seven.”
In 2014, Ryan and his brother Keenan founded Pebble Street Hospitality with four of their friends from GD Somani Memorial School. The company’s first launch was The Good Wife, a modern European gastropub in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex.
Their next opening was “Coco” (Big Brother in Chinese), an Asian-themed gastropub in Kamala Mills (opened in 2016).
Pebble Street Hospitality also includes ‘Fu’, an Asian bistro located in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

- He is the third generation of one of the oldest Chinese families in Mumbai. Thums is one of the most prominent names associated with Chinese cuisine in Mumbai.
- Ryan’s grandfather was born in Kolkata to a family of hairdressers. He moved to Mumbai in the 1960s and settled there. Talking about his grandfather in an interview, Ryan said,
I still remember those days. Grandfather will close the cellar, lock the money in the safe, and only then he will go home.
