- Bhaskar has played comic as well as negative roles in many films and shows. In an interview, he talked about his choice of roles and said,
It was a jolly unit with a lot of fun, respect, and camaraderie all around. Vani Bhojan called me appa, the kid on the set called me thatha, and I had similarly warm experiences with Vaibhav and Karunakaran as well. People across age groups can enjoy every facet of this film. I have always wanted to play such a role in my career. In fact, I am getting a lot of such opportunities now, but the lockdown has put everything on hold.”
- Bhaskar learnt many languages and spoke various slangs. According to him, he used to learn the language of the place where he lived. Talking about this, in an interview, he said,
You wouldn’t have seen me in the same body language in two films. Can you name any? I reject a film when a director tells me this role would work well as one of my characters from my previous film. Likewise, when it comes to dialect, there are lots. Many people do not know which one is Tirunelveli dialect and which one is it. Just because it ends in ‘ley’ it necessarily need not be a Tirunelveli slang. In another film, I would have spoken Sangam Tamil throughout my screen time. These are the improvisations I bring on location.”
- According to Bhaskar, he try to learn the nuances of acting by observing the activities of people in daily life. In an interview, he talked about this and said,
One of the best places to grasp such lessons is a wine shop. I have seen people cry without tears, laugh without reason…As an actor, it is important to mingle with people, and understand how they behave.”
- He has played roles that have less screen time, but are effective. In an interview, he talked about why he chooses roles with less screen time. He said,
I do not look at the duration of my role on screen. What is the point in doing a character which comes throughout the film but doesn’t really have an impact? I came for just 15 minutes in Vindhai, but that role got me a lot of appreciation. So, I do a role that tells me not to lose a director or a film. There are times when I have rejected characters that had more screen time but did not have scope for me as an actor.”
- Bhaskar`s son is also a famous Tamil actor, who gained fame with the film 96 (2018) and Paava Kadhaigal (2020).
