The dispute began after MyBookie questioned the legitimacy of David Portnoy’s gambling habits. Portnoy, the founder of Barstool, responded to MyBookie by leaking complaints from the site’s customers.
MyBookie lost customers and patrons due to the loss of credibility caused by the David leak. As a final blow to the discredited company, Barstool took one of its most important employees, Brandon Walker. Brandon has seized the opportunity of him at Barstool, as he is now one of the most famous figures in the company.

Brandon struggled as a writer and podcast host before landing his position at Barstool
Brandon began working as a writer after graduating from Mississippi State. He rose through the ranks to editor, but found it difficult to move from small-town publications to major news publications. Walker got a better reaction than he had anticipated. His wife agreed to move in with no strings attached because she was so happy that Brandon had gotten the big break that her hard work deserved.
The next day, he informed his employer that he was moving and began working on plans to move the family to New York. Brandon called his wife’s support “abnormal” and added that he’s not sure he would have done the same if he were in his wife’s position. He said:

He knows he was offered a contract at Barstool because of David Portnoy’s dispute with MyBookie, not because of the potential David saw in him. However, from day one he set out to prove that he deserved to be at Barstool, that he was not just a pawn in the duel between David and MyBookie.
Walker has made it big and believes his 9-year-old son, Tommy, has the potential to outshine him. Of his four children, it is his son who has shown the most interest in what Walker does. Walker said:
“He talked to me and said, ‘Dad, it’s time to start my podcast. When are you going to start my video show? When he had the Mississippi State stuff, he would really come and sit with me and really do it. He thinks he’s going to be the next me, which isn’t a bad thing.”
