Kedar Nath Gurung is an Indian educationist and a prolific writer of Nepalese literature. His famous works include Aja Pheri Auta Samajhna Ra Naya Dinharoo (1970), Seemanamathi Chadera Sunaeka Agla Hocha Kothaharoo (1994), and Aphnai Pakshaharoo (1984). In 2012, he was honoured with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Republic of India by the Government of India.

Kedar Nath Gurung was born on Friday, 9 July 1948 (age 75 years; in 2023) in the village of Sardong, Lingchom, Sikkim. He currently lives in Geyzing, in West Sikkim. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He received his primary education from a local school in Lingchom. In 1960, he passed the matriculation examination from Turnbull High School, Darjeeling. He was graduated from the Government College, Darjeeling. He started his career as a teacher but later on Kedar Nath Gurung gave up his teaching profession for his interest in Nepali literature and he started running a bookshop.

Career

In 1983 to 1987, Kedar Nath Gurung was a member of Nepali Sahitya Akademi. Kedar Nath Gurung composed several works of poetry, essays and literary criticisms which include four poetry collections, a short story anthology, and a collection of essays.
