Lakshmi Menon was born on 4 November 1981 (age 38; as in 2019) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. He graduated from Bengaluru University, Bengaluru with a degree in Sociology.
Due to her extraordinary height, she was approached by a modeling scout during her college days. Initially, Lakshmi started working as a part-time model until she graduated and chose modeling as her full-time career. She started her journey as an Indian model on international runways at the age of 25 with Jean Paul Gaultier’s show in Paris. Since then, Lakshmi never looked back.

After graduation, Lakshmi did various modeling assignments in India. However, the Indian glamor world was still obsessed with fair skin and most major advertising campaigns often featured Bollywood starlets. As a result, Lakshmi could not achieve much success in the Indian modeling industry.
Lakshmi got a big opportunity for her modeling career in 2006 when she came across Jean Paul Gaultier, who wanted an Indian model to walk in his show in Paris. Subsequently, he shot campaigns for Hermes, Max Mara, H&M, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. She then appeared in editorials for American, Indian, Indian Elle & Allure, Harper’s Bazaar, V Magazine and Dazed & Confused. In 2011, Lakshmi became the first Indian model to appear in a Pirelli calendar.
