He did his schooling from Delhi and went to SGGS College of Commerce, Delhi University to pursue B.Com Hons. He did PGDM in Mass Media from Delhi University and went to Amity International Business School, Noida to pursue MBA in International Business. Karan was good at sports during his school days and wanted to become a cricketer. After completing his post-graduation, Oberoi started working in an advertising firm called Gray Worldwide as a graphic designer. When Karan was working at Gray Worldwide, he got his first modeling assignment. After this he came to Mumbai to pursue a career in modeling.
