John Stamos opens up about his childhood.
The 60 year old Full house The student will publish a memoir on October 24, called If you had told me.
In the memoir, John reveals that he is a survivor of sexual abuse, which allegedly occurred at the hands of his former nanny.

In an interview with PeopleJohn said it “took me writing a book” to realize the alleged actions were inappropriate.
“I mean, I knew, he was always in the back, and I do a lot of defense of the [survivors]. I felt like I remembered him a little. He’s always been there, but I kept him like people do, right?
At that time “he didn’t tell” anyone, he says.
“I think I said to myself, ‘Oh, they’re girls, man.’”
“It was like you were playing dead to make them stop. But he wasn’t totally aggressive. I don’t know, he wasn’t good.”
John first reflected on the experience while writing an acceptance speech for an award he once received for his advocacy for abused children.
“I started writing it and that’s when it really came to light. And then I thought, ‘No, tonight’s not about me.’ It’s about the children. I’ll save it again until the right time.’ Otherwise, I’m a fake whore. It’s like, ‘Let’s go.'”
“I didn’t want the headlines to be that, and I didn’t want the book to be about that. It was a page or something, but I felt like I had to talk about it. It was strange. It was something that I think was probably like 10 or 11 years old. [when it happened]. She shouldn’t have had to deal with those feelings.”
“But I will tell you that if I find out that someone is doing that to my son, that is a totally different story,” he adds. He welcomed his son Billy, now 5, in April 2018 with his wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos.
“I set out to write a story of heroes, but while I was doing it I thought: ‘No, I’m going to tell a human story.’ Because with the hero story, that’s nonsense. And unless I was one hundred percent communicative, why am I doing this, right? But it was difficult.”
