Managing a newborn and her own business while losing both legs to sepsis
Hülya, the owner of a fashion boutique, was born with deformed arms and legs; she underwent 21 procedures in the first six years of her life and spent a large part of her childhood in the hospital.
“The screws that the doctors put in to fix my legs poisoned my blood,” said the patient. explained Hülya. They had to amputate both of my legs above the knee to save my life because it caused an infection, leaving me with only short stumps. According to Hülya, her impairment has varying effects on her daily activities, and her deformed hands make it a challenge for her to grasp anything.
I need help for some things, I also need a wheelchair to move around, but I often crawl, use a skateboard or a small wheelchair because it is often more convenient for me, the woman added.
Hülya noted, “It was scary at first, but now I can handle it very well.” When asked how her life changed after having her son, Hülya replied: “It changed a lot. Simply put, you get used to doing things differently. Our home isn’t particularly well-equipped, but my father-in-law made me a wheelie basket full of mattresses so I could carry my baby crawling from room to room.
“I exclusively breastfeed and change diapers.” I basically perform all the duties of a mother with limbs, just in a different way.
Hülya opened an Instagram account where she chronicles her life as a disabled person and a young mother. Her account currently has 22.5 thousand followers.
The mother credits her husband Dennis’s confidence to the fact that he encouraged her to go with him and took a lot of pictures during their outings. Hülya claims that she often receives comments from fans who let her know that her pictures inspire and motivate them.
She claims to be ‘the only legless boutique owner in Germany’ and often shocks her clients by serving them in a wheelchair. Hülya claims that adopting a positive outlook allows her to live the life she wants. I know I act and look different than most people, but I’ve never felt that way, she added.
I remember seeing half of my body in the mirror for the first time after the amputations and thinking to myself, “Now I really need to start studying in school to get a good job,” which I did. I remained optimistic and kept looking forward.
I now have a full-time job in addition to being a wife, mother and fashion business owner. The doctors predicted that I would live in a nursing home until I was 18. Because I’ve always thought it was doable, I believe everything I’ve accomplished is doable.
