This is why Lauryn Hill had to cut her Philadelphia concert short

The R&B artist has paused her 25th anniversary tour for this reason…

Last Sunday, the iconic Lauryn Hill, now 48, announced her decision to reschedule her Philadelphia tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of her debut album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”

Hill explained her situation and shared that her medical team strongly recommended rescheduling the performance to avoid any potential damage to her vocal cords.

In a post shared on x and Instagram, the R&B musician stated that she needs to “rest [her] voice to prevent further damage.”

Later in the post, Hill shared that the show was rescheduled for November 25, calling it “special.”

The “Ex-Factor” singer once again expressed her thoughts in a statement reflecting on the moving experience of returning to the stage and celebrating her only studio album.

“The start of this tour has been incredible. What an incredible experience to celebrate this anniversary with all my family, my friends and all of you.

“I hope to be able to give them the show they deserve with a fully recovered and healthy voice,” said the singer-songwriter.

Hill also assured that after a few days of well-deserved rest he will return to normal with his performances scheduled starting Thursday in Toronto.

The “Nothing Even Matters” singer isn’t the only one who has had to cancel shows recently. In another story, pop singer Pink announced another cancellation of her Trustfall tour due to health concerns.

In August, the hip-hop icon hosted a series of shows commemorating the milestone anniversary of his Grammy-winning debut. The tour began in September and, in early October, the artist expanded the lineup with additional dates in cities such as San Francisco, Atlanta, Nashville and Miami, among others. The grand final will be in December.

When Hill announced the tour, he took a moment to reflect on the cultural impact of his 1998 album, as expressed in a press release:

Lauryn Hill’s bad education It is and was a song of love to my parents, to my family, to my people, to my musical and cultural ancestors, to my teachers, to my loves, to my Creator. I wrote love songs and protest songs (still love songs) about the themes and interests that inspired and moved me. I was sure that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that type could only live in the past.”

Hill continued, “I loved music, I loved people, I really felt grateful to God for my life and really blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music. I felt the need to challenge the idea that certain types of expression and/or certain types of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen as long as there was imagination, creativity and LOVE at the forefront.”

We hope Ms. Lauryn Hill feels better soon!
