On Saturday, September 3, Jeff German, a veteran investigative reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, was found murdered and stabbed multiple times outside his home. Police are looking for a suspect in the journalist’s murder. Dori Koren, a spokeswoman for the Las Vegas Police Department, told reporters:
“We suspect the altercation took place outside the house.” We have a few leads. We’re looking for the suspect, but he’s still on the run.”
After receiving emergency help, the authorities were quickly present at the crime scene. Jeff German, 69, is said to have been involved in an altercation with another person, which resulted in the stabbing.
In a statement, executive editor Glenn Cook said:
“Jeff’s passing has left the Review-Journal family deeply saddened. He is the gold standard in journalism. It’s hard to imagine Las Vegas now without years of him shining bright lights into dark areas.”
Jeff German doesn’t seem to have received death threats before the murder.
In a statement, Glenn Cook said German had not informed the newspaper’s management of any threats to him or expressed any concerns for his safety. The Las Vegas Police Department said the investigation is its top priority. In the press release they stated:
“On Saturday, the LVMPD conducted the primary case procedure in the murder investigation.” This brings together multiple resources to optimize investigative efforts and provides a sense of urgency in apprehending suspects.”
Jeff German has spent nearly 30 years of his life as an investigative journalist. He works for the Las Vegas Sun as a writer and reporter, covering government, labor, politics and organized crime. In 2010, he moved to Revija-Journal. German is known for covering political scandals, stories of government corruption, and the mass shooting at a music festival in 2017 that left 60 people dead and more than 400 injured. . German is a journalist who has covered gambling corruption, extremist activities in southern Nevada and organized crime, according to his former associates.
Carolyn G. Goodman, mayor of Las Vegas, expressed her deep thoughts on her social media profile, writing:
“I was shocked when I read the news of the death of longtime Las Vegas writer Jeff Germano. This is a heinous act of cruelty. Deaths in this way are always gruesome and must be avoided. The police investigation will be under our constant supervision.”
The Nevada Attorney General’s office also expressed condolences over the death of Jeff German. They said,
For decades, Jeff German has been speaking the truth to the powers of the Silver State. This is a terrible, senseless tragedy.

The Jeff German report covers many sensitive and important issues, including the 2017 mass shooting at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and city testing standards.
