Death of actor Kalibhavan Mani: Seven suspects including Jafar Idduki
On 6 March 2016, Kalabhavan Mani, a South Indian actor and close friend of Jaffer, died at his farmhouse in Chalakudy, Kerala. Reportedly, Jaffer was one of the suspects in the death of Idukki Tamil actor Kalabhavan Mani. Mani’s brother Ramakrishnan said in a media interview that Jaffer and some of Mani’s friends had a meeting at a house near Paddy, where the actor was found unconscious. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kalabhavan Mani died due to excessive drinking and liver disease. In an interview, Jafar denied the allegations against him and said,
I don’t have time to know what he wants to say because I am someone who makes a living by doing all kinds of things. I really can’t understand what’s wrong with him. I don’t think I need to give any explanation on this. If the police decide to provide further clarification on this, I will give my full support. Otherwise, such statements will have no impact on me.”

- In an interview, Jaffer Idukki revealed that the directors had forced him to withdraw his acting career for a year due to the investigation into the death of Kalabhavan Mani, in which he was a suspect. Jafar said that directors were hesitant to cast him in their films because of his legal disputes in court.
- As of 2022, Jafar Idukki has worked as an actor in more than 150 films.
- Soon after completing his schooling, Jaffer started working at a radio and television repair shop in Idukki. He also worked as an electrician, plumber and auto-driver. Talking about this in an interview, Jafar said,
When I was free at home without any work, I picked up the radio and started working on it. Radio…There will be a training program of Sahitya Samaj in the school on Friday evening. The radio on which CL students used to sing is being snatched and demolished without any purpose. This destruction was carried out when Wappa was not at home. One day Vapa saw this. Thinking that I was interested in radio…radio work, Pulikaran took me to Vijaysound Raghavan Mash in Cherutoni. Vijaya Sound is a famous sound of Idukki. Raghavan is also an electrician of Mash Dam.
- Born and brought up in a farmer family, Jafar started working in the fields at the age of ten. According to Jafar Idduqi, he owned 15 cents of land and a fish farming business in his hometown. In an interview he quoted,
We came to Thodupuzha from Idukki 12 years ago. a small house. Farming is done on 15 cents of land adjacent to the house. Kappa, yam, sorghum, lentils, brinjal, kachil, venda, ginger, yam and chilli are all there. I don’t go out and buy any vegetables. Along with this, fish farming is also done.”
- In an interview, Jafar recalled his childhood days and said that he used to work in a rubber manufacturing company. He quoted,
Rubber budding, rubber loosening, rubber kuru waral in nursery… If you collect rubber wastes lying in small potholes on the road during the rainy season, you will get 40 paise per lease. With that money we will go to watch movies. Watch all movies. This clod in the hand is a symbol of working in the soil since a young age. I’m still working on clay
