In 1972, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh completed his post-graduation in Geography from Gauhati University. In 1973, she opted for a lectureship at the Ideal Girls College in Imphal, Manipur. He taught at the college until 1984. In the same year, he was named Assistant Professor at Manipur University in the Department of Earth Sciences. In 1985, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh was elected as the Deputy Registrar of the University. He served as the Registrar of Manipur University from 2004 to 2008. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh served as Director-in-charge of the UGC Academic Staff College and Director of College Development, Manipur University until his retirement in 2012. In 2013, Ranjan Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and entered the political journey. In 2014, he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections for the Interior Manipur seat with the BJP’s candidature and lost the election; However, in 2019, he tried his luck again and won the second Lok Sabha election. On 13 September 2019, he was sworn in as a member of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests. From 9 October 2019, he was elected as a Member of the Rules Committee and a Member of the Consultative Committee and also held the charge of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. In June 2021, he was given charge of state education and foreign affairs as part of Modi’s second ministry reshuffle.
