Marcus Mariota’s quarterback career hasn’t turned out the way he hoped. However, the Philadelphia Eagles star has found success elsewhere, raising a beautiful family and starting a charitable foundation with his wife, Kiyomi Cook. The couple met in 2014 at the University of Oregon, where Mariota played soccer and Kiyomi played soccer. They got engaged in June 2020 and married in July 2021.
Kiyomi Cook has Hawaiian roots; she was born and raised in oregon
Kiyomi Cook was born in 1993 to Carol Tsuhako-Cook and Karl Cook in Gresham, Oregon. He grew up in Oregon with his brother and sister, who played soccer. Kiyomi is of Hawaiian descent.
Mariota and Kiyomi probably bonded over their Hawaiian roots when they first met. Their first public appearance as a couple was at a 2015 NFL Draft party in Honolulu. The images show that the secret couple honor Hawaiian traditions.
“Hawaiian royalty got married last night!” Mariota’s former teammate Logan Ryan posted on Instagram in early July 2021. “Thank you Kiyomi and Marcus for including us. Nothing but everlasting happiness for you two. MAHALO.”
The couple, who welcomed their daughter to Makaia in December 2022, have gained fame for their charitable work. Kiyomi serves as the director of social media for Motiv8, Marcus’s charitable foundation. The couple also built a house for a local family in 2016. Mariota said the tennessean:
“I just like being a part of the community and this is a great way to get involved. We have some free time in the off season and this is a nice way to spend it. I met the family when we started working and it’s about giving them a roof over their heads and I’m happy to be a part of that.”
