Domestic
He started playing cricket for Liverpool Catholic Club for the Under-10 and later the Under-11 team. He won the Player of the Year award when he was playing for the Under-12 team. He later played for Ingleburn RSL Cricket Club as well. He later joined Campbelltown Camden District Cricket Club, The Ghosts and played for the Under-17 team.

He used to open the innings in batting and was a fast bowler during his early career; however, he later became a legspinner. At the age of eighteen, he was selected for New South Wales Blues. He made his first-class debut for New South Wales (NSW) on 27 October 2021 against Victoria in Sheffield Shield Tournament; he scored 1 run in the first innings and got out on a duck in the second innings and took 3 wickets for 44 runs in the first innings and failed to take any wicket in the second innings. He made his List-A (one-day) debut for New South Wales on 24 November 2021 against Victora in The Marsh Cup and took 4 wickets for 21 runs.

Under-16 & Under-19
He played for the Australia Under-16 team in 2016 where he met Pakistani-Australian spinner, Fawad Ahmed, who became his mentor. In 2020, he played for the Australia Under-19 team in the Under-19 World Cup held in South Africa and took 15 wickets in the tournament.

Leagues
Big Bash League (BBL)
He played his debut match in Big Bash League for Sydney Thunder on 12 December 2020 against Melbourne Stars and took 2 wickets for 26 runs. He finished the 2020-21 BBL season as the third-highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets at an average of 16.66. During one of the matches, West Indies Power hitter Andre Russell praised Sangha by calling him a big-hearted spinner who is not afraid of bowling to hitters.

- In August 2023, Tanveer Sangha was selected in the 18-member squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup, which would be later shortened to 15. Australian legendary cricketer, Ricky Ponting, was impressed by his bowling in Big Bash League and recommended his name to the selection board of Cricket Australia, headed by George Bailey.
