In WWE 2K22, a feature allows the player to upload a custom character render into the game. This will create a real-life custom photo shown for the created superstar, much like all the current real superstars. It can also be used to create an alternate attire for current superstars.
This is not the first time that the WWE 2K franchise has allowed players to upload custom images. Both WWE 2K19 and WWE 2K20 had this feature. However, it was met with harsh criticism due to the strange-looking character builds and massive difference between the render and the character.
However, WWE 2K22 has vastly improved their created superstar builds. This will create a more realistic feel when the player uploads a custom render. Any image the player wants can be uploaded into WWE 2K22 if it meets certain criteria. Here is how to go about uploading the images.
Uploading Custom Images to WWE 2K22 For Character Renders
The first step is to head over to WWE2K’s official website and click the upload image button that should be the only thing seen in the middle of the website. The next step is to log in to an account that is tied to the WWE 2K22 game purchased. The choices are Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Steam. Once selected and logged in, the uploading of images process can begin.
However, there are some criteria that must be met with these images on WWE 2K22:
- The image cannot have any background at all and needs to be transparent.
- There are specific size requirements with seven options (512×512 px, 256×256 px, 128×128 px, 1024×1024 px, 1024×512 px, 1024×256 px, and 1024×128 px).
- Face photos should only include the face and nothing below the chin.
- Custom portraits should only include from the waist up.
- The image should be saved as a PNG file.
To upload a custom character render in WWE 2K22, players must select the ‘Custom Portrait’ option. Add the custom image and then head into the game. Scroll over to the Online tab and select Community Creations and Image Manager. Select the preferred image and download it to WWE 2K22.
Next, the player will go to either create a new custom superstar or edit their previous custom superstar. Under the Personal Information tab within this menu, there is an option to add a custom image. Once saved, this character render will show in WWE 2K22 every time the player selects this character in any game mode.
The same steps as above can also be used to create an alternate attire for a current WWE 2K22 superstar. Once the custom portrait of the WWE superstar is uploaded and the player updates the attire they wish to see in-game, they should then head to the ‘Personal Information’ tab again and change “Use As Alternate Attire?” to “No.” Then the custom image can be added. Next, switch the “Use As Alternate Attire?” to “Yes” and save the character. This custom character render will now be available in WWE 2K22 as an alternate attire for the superstar selected in any game mode.
