Hayley Dodd News

The family of missing youngster Hayley Dodd allegedly received a call from a young man who claimed to have murdered the kid and threatened to kill her mother. He has now been charged. Margaret Dodd received the phone phone call last month.

The West Australian reported that he allegedly threatened to kill her mother after claiming to have killed and buried Hayley in July 1999. Police have not released any other information, other than to state that an 18-year-old East Victoria Park resident has been charged with one count of making a threat to commit an illegal act.

According to a brief statement from police, “it will be alleged that the accused made verbal threats to a female victim during a phone call on October 19.”

On November 21, the man—who reportedly has mental health issues—is scheduled to appear before Perth Magistrates Court. It happens as the Dodd family is awaiting the results of the man who was twice convicted of killing Hayley death’s second appeal.

After a judge-only trial in 2018, Francis John Wark, 66, was initially convicted of killing Hayley, but his conviction was later overturned. After a second trial last year, Wark was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter and given a record-breaking 18 years in prison.

Hayley, 17, was last seen alone as she made her way to a friend’s farm in the Badgingarra area, northeast of Perth. Her remains have never been located. Wark has consistently insisted that he was at Moora, some 50 kilometres distant when she vanished.

An earring found under a car seat cover that had been confiscated by police in 1999 but hadn’t been forensically analysed until a cold case review roughly 14 years later was a crucial piece of evidence in the case. Additionally, some hair that Wark’s attorneys deemed “suspect” was discovered inside the car. In Queensland in 2007, Wark was found guilty of kidnapping and raping a hitchhiker.
