Grand Daddy IU’s albums and hits are very popular.
Grand Daddy IU was born on August 23, 1968 and spent most of her youth in Hempstead, Long Island. He has never revealed anything about his parents or his upbringing history, so no details are available. After being promoted by his brother Kay Cee, he made his debut in the music business in 1989 when signed to Cold Chillin’ Records. Despite his success as a hip-hop musician, he never reached the level of other artists affiliated with the record company. Since starting his career in music, the 54-year-old late man has recorded 4 albums.
His debut album Smooth Assassin and his singles were well received by the public. However, Grand Daddy IU started to have a bad image in the music business when Biz Markie was recognized for releasing hits even though IU and her brother Kay Cee did most of the work.
In June 1994, he released his second album, Lead Pipe. Despite entering the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, the album failed to replicate the level of popularity IU’s first release. There are a total of 16 singles. Lack of marketing and Cold Chillin’ Records ending its partnership with Warner Bros. Records are considered the reasons why the album failed.
After that, Grand Daddy IU took a break from composing new music for a long time and focused on composing songs for other musicians. He has appeared as a guest on various albums and his third album, Stick to the Script, was released in 2007 by Steady Flow after a long hiatus. The album became popular thanks to the appearance of famous musicians as guests. He also collaborated with Pudgee Tha Phat Bastard on the album Still Listening. Grand Daddy IU’s latest album, Essence, was released in 2020, and the single, Stay Fly, was released the following year.
