Additionally, she is in the news after being kidnapped in March 2023.
She was reportedly kidnapped in Baghdad and held captive by Kata’ib Hezbollah, an Iraqi force backed by Iran. It was reported that she traveled to Iraq to conduct research for Princeton University.

Tsurkov was born in 1986 in St. Petersburg, Russia from Jewish parents. Her parents reportedly moved to Israel. Tsurkov spent his childhood in a kibbutz.
Her mother’s name is Irina, and she spoke publicly about her daughter, while the father’s name is not known. Tsurkov’s parents were allegedly imprisoned by the Soviet authorities after collaborating with Natan Sharanski.
Tsurkov also has a younger sister named Emma. Tsurkov moved to Israel with her mother and sister in 1990, a year before her father. Later, the Tsurks moved to an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.
