Lydia Night, a musician, attacked American rock band SWMRS after they made a video addressing sexual misconduct allegations against Joey Armstrong, the band’s former drummer. In July 2020, Night accused Armstrong of emotional and sexual abuse while they were together. On Wednesday, October 12, she shared a video in which she criticized SWMRS’ Cole Becker for using his brother’s wound to gain sympathy and commented on the “horrible experience” ” hers.
She accused him of “blaming the victim again and failing”, saying:
“How dare you tell the truth about me being 16?” He forced me to have oral sex with him as a minor, so that’s statutory rape. “It’s s*x.” I have no influence on what others call it. I have no control over whether the script makes you feel ‘aborted’. All I can control is speaking my truth and trying to recover from the horrible experience I had as a young man with your bandmate and best friend.
While repeatedly abusing them, Night closed the video by saying that SWMRS should not take any responsibility.
Joey Armstrong’s allegations were handled by SWMRS.
SWMRS, which originally consisted of Cole Becker, Max Becker, Joey Armstrong and Seb Mueller, released a lengthy video for their fans on October 12, revealing that the latter two have left and the former two will be leaving. “keep the band going. Cole opens the video by apologizing for the delay, saying, “It’s hard to find the perfect words.”
He then addressed Night’s allegations of “emotional abuse and sexual coercion” against Armstrong, claiming he was “shocked” by the allegations.
“Lydia is someone we consider a friend.” I quickly contacted her when I learned she was going to ask Joey out. I remember Joey and her dating for months before talking about their relationship after the incident, and I think everything went well. So I’m curious what has changed.”
When Night and Armstrong started dating, they had a 5 year age difference. He is 22 years old and she is 17 years old. Cole said that after Lydia went public with her allegations, he “quickly realized that key factors had been exaggerated to make things look worse than they really were.”
“I was present. I miss their brief romance. I remember him spending Mother’s Day with her family.”
He then denied that Joey was forcing Night to cover up their relationship, while asserting that everyone around knew they were dating.
“I was also confused because they had never had sex, but a lot of people started calling him a rapist.” And for us as defenders of rape.”
He went on to defend Joey, saying Lydia’s comments “make it seem like Joey is a *xual predator.” Cole Becker claims they received death threats and were “cancelled” because they didn’t want to criticize their drummer Joey Armstrong.
“People have come up with new ways to let us know how bad we are and how much they despise us.”
Cole also indicated that SWMRS would not be disbanding and that Joey and Seb would be stepping down “to build their personal lives”, while he and Max would stay at the band.
“After all we’ve been through, giving up seems stupid.” After the accident, he worked tirelessly to recover with the sole goal of being able to perform rock music on stage again. Our band means a lot to us, and I believe it means a lot to many of you.”

What did Lydia Night admit in July 2020?
Lydia Night took to Instagram in July 2020 to release a lengthy statement accusing Joey Armstrong, son of Green Day singer Billy Armstrong, of emotional and sexual abuse during their relationship. The 22-year-old singer revealed Armstrong allegedly abused and treated her, including how he set “rules” and “embarrassed” her when she expressed annoyance.
Lydia also alleges that Armstrong lied to her and dumped her when she refused to “agree” to his activities and that he even forced her to have sex.
“Whenever we see each other, he tries to put us in situations where he can achieve sexual pleasure.”
She said their relationship ended two months before her 18th birthday and she had time to think about what had happened to her. Lydia also said that her band went on tour with SWMRS after the event, but “that tour felt different than the previous ones” because they were treated like strangers.
“It looks like SWMRS and their crew are doing everything in their power to punish me.”
It took her years to “finally understand that I was a victim of violence,” she said.
“Three years later, I still vividly remember the terrifying moments between Joe and my relationship.” It had a huge impact on me and had a significant impact on my confidence.
Lydia said she confronted Joey about his behavior towards her and he apologized. She also said SWMRS member Cole left her a “handwritten letter” from Joey, but it didn’t mention her being abused.
