Dolly Parton Reveals Husband Carl’s Reaction to Her Viral Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit

Dolly Parton caused a stir last November by dressing up as the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. She appeared in that outfit during the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show on Thanksgiving Day. Now she reveals what her husband thought about it.

“It turned out very good and my husband liked it. He said, “Those shorts were too short.” I said, ‘Jealous?'” Parton told People. “And I said, ‘They weren’t as short as the other girls!’ He was just being funny. I think he thought, because everyone is making a fuss about it, he thought, well, maybe you shouldn’t show your butt at that age. But anyway, he enjoyed it too.”

Parton married Carl Thomas Dean in 1966. While the singer has spent most of her life in the spotlight, Parton has typically kept her marriage private. Dean tends to avoid his wife’s fame as much as possible.

When it comes to their marriage, they both simply enjoy spending time together. They also travel a bit together.

She said: “My husband and I like to travel in our little camper, our little caravan, and just go out and have a picnic by the river. I love coming home to East Tennessee, visiting friends and family, and I love to read. I’m an avid reader, so any great book I can get my hands on, I like to do. “I prefer to read than watch TV,” she says.

Dolly Parton wore a Cowboys cheerleader outfit for her husband

Parton didn’t want her outfit to go viral. She was just trying to have a little fun.

“I try not to get into anything I don’t think I can pull off, like that little Dallas Cowgirl costume. I really thought, well, I’m going to do this just for fun, because I mean, I’ve never been to one of their halftime shows and the girls are so famous,” she said.

Parton wore the outfit for her husband with the intention of making it a cute moment. However, she appreciates all the attention she receives.

“All the kids love them, including my husband, and I did it for him. I thought, well, if I can pull this off, it’ll be nice, and if not, they’ll just think some old woman did something stupid!” she said. “I just thought she was great, and evidently she was because she turned out to be a great sensation. And then, I can make a poster, a pin-up, and donate all the money to Red Kettle.”
