David Yutaka Ige (born January 15, 1957) is the eighth Governor of Hawaii in the United States. He previously served as a Democrat in the Hawaii State Senate. In the 2014 gubernatorial election, he defeated incumbent Governor Neil Abercrombie in the Democratic primary and Republican challenger Duke Aiona in the general election. In 2018, he was re-elected.

While working for GTE Hawaiian Tel after college, Ige took graduate classes at UH and earned a Master of Business Administration in Decision Sciences. In 1986, Hawaii Business Magazine recognized him as one of the university’s top ten MBA students. Prior to becoming governor of Hawaii, Ige served as a project manager for Robert A. Ige and Associates, Inc., as vice president of engineering at NetEnterprise, and as senior principal engineer at Pihana Pacific, which built Hawaii’s first world-class data center and operator-independent internet exchange. He previously worked with GTE Hawaiian Tel for over 18 years as an engineer. Due to the growing severity of the homeless problem, Ige declared a state of emergency in October 2015. President Trump selected Ige to the nonpartisan Board of Governors on February 22, 2019, where he will serve as co-chair.
