Devin Haney’s career

Haney has won seven national titles in her amateur career. He wasn’t the youngest person to win the World Junior Championships in Reno until he was 17. Before turning pro in 2015, he had an amateur record of 138-8.

Haney was unable to compete in the US after turning pro at the age of 17. As a result, his first four matches were held there. A professional local athlete, he has won the WBC Youth, IBF-USBA, IBF North American, WBC International, WBO Intercontinental and WBA International lightweight titles.

After former WBC lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko was elevated to the status of a “Friday Champion” by the WBC in October 2019, Haney became the sport’s youngest world champion.

Devin Haney’s next three defenses were against third-weight world champion Jorge Linares, former unified featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa and Alfredo Santiago (under KSI vs. Logan Paul). American boxer 3 times successfully defended the WBC lightweight championship despite injury.

Haney has expressed a desire to compete against unified champion George Kambosos Jr. after defeating Joseph Diaz in the final match on December 4, 2021. On June 5, 2022, no contest was held and Haney won. As a result, he combined the WBC lightweight belt with the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and Ring belts while defeating Kambosos Jr. The pair will meet again on October 16, 2022 at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, Australia.
