YG Entertainment, Bobby’s management company, has denied many allegations about the male idol leaving the company and the band. Without going into details, the agency told Joy News24 that those claims are false. They stated:
“The stories about Bobby’s contract expiring are untrue.”
This follows KpopHerald’s exclusive news on November 15 that Bobby will not be renewing his contract with YG Entertainment. The information in the report comes from an unnamed YG official.

“The rumors are baseless,” the YG official said of Bobby’s contract expiration.
A spokesperson for YG informed Newsen that the allegations about the rapper leaving the company and iKON are untrue, despite considerable discussion online. According to this official:
“Rumors are untrue.” He still has some time left on his contract.”
However, the YG official did not say when Bobby or the other iKON members’ exclusive contracts will expire or if they plan to renew them. Meanwhile, neither Bobi nor the team members commented on the event; however, during the press conference for their fourth mini-album Flashback in May, they said that they have not yet negotiated a contract with the company.
“We have not discussed it with the company yet. We will work hard for our album and iKON, despite the fact that there is no official decision yet.”
Under the laws of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), artists can be legally bound to their agency for up to seven years before they have to renew their contracts; Bobby debuted as a member of iKON in 2015 and his contract with the company is set to expire in the next few months.
Bobby, iKON’s ‘genius’
Kim Ji-won aka Bobby debuted in iKON as a rapper in 2015 along with fellow members Jay, Song, DK, Ju-ne, Chan and former BI member. Since then, the female idol is best known for winning the Mnet survival show Show Me The Money 3 and producing several of the group’s songs, as well as delivering impressive performances. Bobby co-wrote all six songs on Flashback’s fourth mini-album and even assisted the other members in songwriting. iKonics praised the singer’s contribution to the album, calling him a “genius”, noting:
“Daamn Bobby contributed to composing all the songs, one was composed entirely by himself (dragon) and the other by Donghyuk. “This guy is an excellent writer.”
Amidst the speculation, iKONIC tweeted, “We believe in Bobby.”
The tagline “In Bobby, we trust” became popular again amid speculation about his departure from the band. Some fans expressed support for the musician and expressed optimism that he will continue on his own terms, while others said they will wait for official confirmation of the news. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old recently deleted all but one of his posts, unfollowed all iKON members and made his Instagram account private, fueling more rumors. guess.
