Tawny Cypress usually keeps her personal life out of the limelight, but in 2013 she appeared on the covers of tabloids. Her ex-husband Bill Charles has sued the Heroes actress and her husband, Tom Dillon, for allegedly staging and staging an assault on him.
According to Charles, Cypress planned an outing for him and their underage son, Dexter Cypress, on June 6, 2012, at the Cheeburger Cheeburger on Seventh Avenue. When Charles arrived at the scene, he found Dillon waiting outside the burger joint and is said to have hit him with a “hard instrument”, which caused him to fall to the ground and give him a concussion. When police arrived, the couple allegedly “acted with others to deceive, concocting a fictitious account of events” in which Charles was accused of abusing his son in public. As a result, Charles was jailed for six nights for assault. Charles, who was married to Cypress from 2000 to 2004, did not want to argue and filed a lawsuit against the couple.

Cypress and her husband went to court with her ex-partner in January 2013, and she is said to have told Charles, “How much more gold can you get?” before exclaiming “scum” as she left the room at Brooklyn Criminal Court. The actress, who was not present when the incident happened outside the burger shop, insists that was not the case for her. During the hearing, Charles’ attorney, Robert Feldman, produced the surveillance footage and argued that it never showed his client placing his hand on the then 11-year-old boy. However, Dillon caught a group of people moving the child out and prevented his father from approaching him until Dillon punched Charles.
Feldman claimed the entire encounter was a set-up, culminating in Dillon hitting Charles with a cell phone and injuring him. “My kid was forced to live with a guy who attacked me with a deadly weapon and tried to kill me,” Charles said during a hearing at Brooklyn Criminal Court. He said he has not been able to visit his son since he was detained more than seven months ago. The trial was supposed to begin on February 4, 2013, but the parties appear to have settled quietly as there is no information on how the settlement will work.

Since then, the actress and her husband have continued their lives. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal in November 2021, the actress, who rarely discusses her private life, spoke about it. She said that she and her husband now live in New Jersey. They used to live in Brooklyn when their kid was young because they wanted him to go to a good high school that Brooklyn went to.
The couple vacations to the Jersey Shore once or twice a year when the actress enjoys walking along the beach to clear her mind and think things through. One day, because Cypress loved animals, they wanted to buy a farm with a barn for chickens, camels, pigs, and goats.
